As Humanitarian Specialist, you will
Provide technical input to programs implemented in contexts where both development and humanitarian programming is relevant. You will contribute to quality assurance using your expertise and knowledge of sector standards such as CHS and SPHERE in our projects that follow AADK’s approaches as well as AA’s Humanitarian Signature.
Humanitarian technical input
- Provide technical input on youth, protection, resilience, preparedness, age, gender and diversity to our programs in the humanitarian/development contexts
- Support ActionAid members and their local partners in implementing programs with a focus on youth and women in humanitarian/development contexts
- Develop and carry out virtual and face-to-face training and capacity development/sharing activities in relation to youth leadership, protection and resilience in humanitarian/development contexts
- Facilitate and support the representation of crises-affected groups in different national and international fora
- Contribute to AADK communication, campaign and policy departments as needed on specific humanitarian projects
- Coordinate the continued development of projects in close collaboration with ActionAid members and other AADK colleagues and teams
- Coordinate and provide technical input on project planning and implementation on thematic areas as per competencies within protection, resilience, accountability, livelihoods or cash programming
- Coordinate selected projects implemented by ActionAid members and their local partners including monitoring implementation and finance as well as disbursements of funds
- Ensure that all internal policies and relevant donor compliance are adhered to
- Provide input on AADK’s implementation of CHS compliance plans in close collaboration with AADK colleagues and teams
The job requires that you have
- Relevant academic degree
- Minimum 5 years’ experience with in-country implementation within on or more of the mentioned themes; age, gender and diversity in humanitarian programming and/or within humanitarian program areas such as protection, resilience, accountability, livelihoods or cash programming
- Strong project cycle management knowhow and experience
It an advantage if:
- You have knowledge of working with local partner organizations
- You have experience with working specifically with youth in humanitarian settings
- You have a solid amount of self-motivation, and can push for action while understanding your own mandate and that of others
- You identify opportunities for the organization, lift quality, and seize these opportunities by building leadership in others
- You can move fast and push implementation through in complex situations and contexts with due respect to partnership principles and capacity considerations
- Highly motivated to join a dual mandated organization, and to empower young people and AADK partners to work and respond in their communities.
- Excited about joining an informal work environment with committed professionals and room for humor and laughter
- IT savvy and excited about working on increasing virtual options and decreasing CO2 by less air-travel
- Proficient in English, Danish a benefit, not a requirement

The role is based in the International Policy and Program team. The team consists of 18 colleagues, mainly located in Denmark, but also abroad.
In both our long-term development work and in our work in humanitarian contexts we focus especially on young women and men who live in poverty and exclusion. We help organize communities of action that can take up the struggle against injustice, poverty and discrimination.
We are in the process of developing and expanding our humanitarian profile and portfolio. We currently have humanitarian programs in several countries with funding from Danida and the EU.
We aim to expand our activities as we strongly believe working with local partners has real impact on the lives of the people we work with, while pushing for transformative change in the humanitarian sector.
We focus on shifting power to affected communities and actively building leadership of women and young people affected by crises.
